Gary Greenwood...
Songwriter, Singer, Guitarist
Music found Gary Greenwood early. When his parents bought him a Hagstrom guitar at just ten years old, it sparked a lifelong passion that would define his creative path. Entirely self-taught, Gary quickly developed his own style and began performing in teen bands, often switching between guitar, drums, and bass. By age thirteen, he had already formed his first band, playing local parties and New Year’s Eve celebrations. After high school, he started another band, Guzzled, and became a familiar face on the local music scene. When Guzzled disbanded, Gary turned his energy toward songwriting and performing his own original material—blending heartfelt lyrics with memorable melodies and skilled musicianship. In 1981, Gary began recording his music, earning praise for both his voice and songwriting. He became the first artist ever played three consecutive nights on WBAB’s Homegrown show, a rare recognition that highlighted his talent and promise. One review described his songs as “durable and memorable pop tracks that could shine in any format,” calling his future “bright and full of promise.” Throughout the 1990s, Gary returned to the studio to record new material and continued to perform at local venues. His music has since been featured in broadcast radio commercials and even on major gaming platforms including Xbox and PlayStation, a testament to the timeless appeal and adaptability of his work. Decades later, Gary Greenwood remains driven by the same love of music that began with that first Hagstrom guitar—still writing, recording, and sharing songs that resonate with honesty and heart.
